Ohh how I love Ollie and Mia so much. They completely own my heart. Since the end of book 1, Stay with Me I have been eagerly awaiting book 2, Even When I’m Gone and I can tell you the wait was so worth it. I loved every single written word. This author is a master of her craft. Beautifully poetic writing like I have never read before. The emotion you feel will hold you captive from the first to last page!

The growth in Mia’s character from the start of book 1 until the 2nd book is TREMENDOUS. She is a FIGHTER! She has overcome so much and the fact that she is still pushing on is inspiring. I especially loved Mia’s relationship with Zeke. She has such a huge soft spot for him and it completely pulls at your heartstrings.

The book deals with anxiety, depression, suicide and other mental illnesses so be warned that this book is not for those that can not handle these sensitive subjects. But if you can you will appreciate the way Nicole tackles these subjects. It's so real, raw and emotional!

Ollie's character completely slayed me. He has such a unique soul. When he feels, you feel. In book 2 we learn more about Ollie's background and what he had to endure growing up and once you realize how far he has come to get to where he is today you will be awestruck.

There is so much more I could say but I want to keep this review spoiler free. So just know that the minute you finish the last page you will be stunned and realing for the 3rd book because I know I was!

Present Day

The Super Bowl Halftime Performance
Hard Rock Stadium
Miami Gardens, Florida

Facing what’s estimated to be over sixty-seven thousand people with my favorite guitar strapped snug against me, I prepare to sing my final song.

Standing up here in front of thousands of fans is second nature. I performed in countless dive bars before breaking onto the scene and securing my first record deal, then moving on to sold-out world tours. Which means I shouldn’t have sweaty palms like a preteen working up the nerve to talk to her crush.

My heart shouldn’t be racing like a horse competing in the Kentucky Derby.

My stomach shouldn’t churn as though I’ve eaten ceviche from a questionable food truck.

Tremors shouldn’t affect my hands like a virgin embarking on their deflowering.

None of this should be afflicting me. But it is.

Because of him.

Because of the current state of my heart.

But this is how I deal with heartache. With tragedy. With…life.

“This is a little different, and I hope you like it,” I rasp into the mic. Noise from the cheering fans is deafening, and like every time I perform, the surreal quality never quite fades.

Tonight marks the first time I’ll share a song I wrote about someone who eviscerated my heart entirely. My other relationships—and subsequent failures—pale in comparison.

It’s no secret that love and broken hearts inspire great songwriting. With regard to the latter, it’s never hard to find someone mourning an unrequited love, suffering heartache, or wishing they’d find their own glorified everlasting love.

But have you noticed when male musicians write about it, they’re never on the receiving end of the snide, sarcastic comments of, “Oh, poor thing. He’s rich and famous and can’t find love. Boo-freaking-hoo.”?

Yet when I write lyrics that are the closest thing to ripping out my heart and putting it on display for the world, I receive the “She’s probably selfish and put her career first” or “She probably cheated, and now she’s regretting it” or “Mm. So sad. The Ice Princess of Pop is heartbroken.”

My response? Fuck that noise. I’m writing from my heart and soul, regardless of how damaged they might be at any given time. And as long as my fans continue to support me, I’m going to keep on keepin’ on.

“I’d like to dedicate this song to a special person.” I duck my chin, willing myself to maintain composure. “It’s called ‘Embers.’”

Once I strum the first note on my guitar, everything around me fades. My voice emerges from the shards scattered within my chest where my working heart once was.

When I play that final chord, I see tears streaming down the faces of the fans in the front rows. And yet again, I’m reminded of something all too easily forgotten. That there are others who can relate to lyrics written from my soul’s breath.

Because in heartache, we’re never truly alone.

MY REVIEW

4 ICE POP PRINCESS STARS!

RC Boldt is a fairly new to me author and I am quickly becoming a big fan. Too Good at Goodbyes is the story of Simone and Kane. This is not your typical rockstar romance as we typically see the hero as the rockstar but this time, the heroine is a popstar and I love the light the RC Boldt sheds into the life and fame of a female pop star. 

Simone has been known as the Ice Princess of Pop. But let me tell you that this is the furthest from the truth. You will fall in love with Simone. She was so relatable and I genuinely felt so much for her. She has had some tough goings in life. She doesnt have any family and really only has her best friend Matthias in her corner. Matthias added so much light and humor to the story! He definitely needs his own book! 

ane is given the opportunity to become a security guard for the pop princess and he intially has some pre-concieved notions on her because of the way she is portrayed in the media and he is pleasantly surprised when he gets the complete opposite of what he is expecting. It honestly took me a little bit to warm up to Kane at first as he has had some experiences that harden is heart to women and love but as he reveals his heart I was a huge fan! I love their chemistry and connection right from the start. It starts as friendship and quickly turns into more and the steam between these two will have your kindle burning up! 

I was pleasantly surprised by the angst and emotion I felt throughout this book. The things that Kane did to show his love to Simone after a misunderstanding had my heart swooning and I could not get enough.

If you have read A.L. Jackson's Fight for Me Series you will know Frankie Leigh and Evan as children in those books. Frankie Leigh and Evan's story is so heartbreakingly beautiful and you will fall in love with them right from the first page.

Frankie Leigh and Evan had been best friends all their lives until 3 years previous, he walked away from their hometown and left Frankie and his parents heartbroken from his departure. He unexpectedly returns 3 years later. The emotion, the pain, the heartbreak that these two characters have gone through will leave your heart in shambles and you cannot help but route for them to work through all the turmoil they are facing.

Second chance romances are my among one of my most favorite tropes in the romance genre, and A.L. Jackson does not disappoint in bringing us all the passion, emotion and forgiveness you feel in a second chance love story.

Along with the romance there is a suspenseful storyline that keeps you entralled and turning the pages. This is one of the best books I have ever read by this author and I hope we will get more from the secondary characters that were introduced in this story.

MY ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐5 STAR REVIEW

What a intense, beautifully written story! Marni writes with so much heart, passion, angst and emotion. Her beautiful, unique way of writing grips you right from the start and will give you all the FEELS.

Before You tells the story of two different couples. One from the past, and one in the present. Billie and Jared (present) and Honey and Andrew (past).

There were times when I couldn’t quite imagine how it would all weave together but then it does and it is so, so heartbreaking, intense and will leave you stunned and completely invested in the outcome of these characters.

There is so much more I could say but I won't because I do not want to spoil a thing, and I highly recommend going into this one blind. It will have a bigger impact that way :)

MY 4 STAR REVIEW 

I am a huge fan of Natasha Madison, and this one had all the elements I love about her books. Passion, a little bit of drama, humor and a steamy romance between two characters that you will fall in love with.

Eliahn and Luca intitally meet on a cruise ship, and hookup for a few nights of passion. They expect it to be with no strings attached but fate had other plans. Eliahn finds out she is pregnant and has no way of contacting Luca to let him know. Then bam, they meet again 7 years later and Luca is meeting his mini me for the first time, and his world is ROCKED. Luca could never seem to forget Eliahn, and now that she has  re-entered his life and he is attempting to co-parent he can't seem to do it without his heart getting involved with her too. 

I LOVED that this story is low angst and low drama, both characters are so adult about the co-parenting, it was a refreshing change from some other accidential pregnency books i've read in the past, and the humor! I laughed out loud so many times, just like the other two books Tempt the Boss, and Tempt the Playboy. Note that Tempt the Hookup is a complete stand-alone but you will appreciate it so much more if you read the other 2 books first.

I loved their son, Aiden. He was so accepting of Luca, and I loved their connection as they get to know each other. Super sweet!

It was extremely fast paced but I still loved it and highly recommend you pick this one up.
