But he doesn’t know me, I went to school a town over. Now, to fulfill my promise, I’m the newest freshman on the campus where he is the big man. If there is one thing, aside from cheap beer, that a jock can’t pass up, it’s a shiny new girl.

So when I catch his eye, play hard to get, and then fall into his bed, I know my scheme is working to perfection. But what Lincoln can’t see coming is the beatdown I have planned for his ice-cold heart.

Unfortunately, what I never saw coming was the one he had planned for mine.

Fool Me Twice is a story of loss, healing, love and forgiveness. Carrie Aarons has penned a super angsty emotional and steamy read that I read in one sitting. Henley’s heart is breaking from the loss of her best friend Catherine. Catherine had a bucket list of things to do before she passed and one of the things she didn’t complete, was getting revenge on Lincoln Kolb for the way he broke up with Catherine after she tells him she has cancer. Henley feels it is her job to do this on behalf of her friend now that she is gone. While I understood her motives and dealing with her grief on top on that I wasn’t a fan of the way she handled the revenge and she took it too far at times. Lincoln on the other hand I adored. He comes off completely arrogant and cocky at first but once I got to know him and the more the story developed the more my heart opened up him. His cockiness turned more into confidence with I found attractive. While this wasn’t my favorite book by Carrie Aarons I will continue to read her work in the future and rate this one 3 stars.
