THE BEST OF US by Kennedy Fox is now available on all retailers! A best friend's brother, opposites attract, and snowed-in together standalone romance.
Brooke Cumberland and Lyra Parish are a duo of romance authors who teamed up under the USA Today pseudonym, Kennedy Fox.
They share a love of Hallmark movies & overpriced coffee. When they aren’t bonding over romantic comedies, they like to brainstorm new book ideas.
One day in 2016, they decided to collaborate under a pseudonym and have some fun creating new characters that’ll make you blush and your heart melt.
Happily ever afters guaranteed!

Cami and Eli (from The Two of Us) are getting married and she has given her brother, Ryan and best friend, Kendall the task of going up to the cabin to decorate and stock the cabin as this is where they plan to spend their honeymoon. Little do Ryan and Kendall realize the snowstorm that is on its way is going to keep them at the cabin much longer than they initially planned for.
Ryan is a hardworking and loyal and feeling a little displaced in the world since the pandemic outbreak. He is suffering from PTSD from all the trauma he witnessed as an ER doctor during the worst of the pandemic.
I really struggled with these characters initially. Ryan comes off as a complete jerk to Kendall at first. He made some big assumptions about her without ever getting to know the real her. Within the first few chapters I couldn’t stand Kendall’s rich girl snobby attitude about being stuck in a cabin but as time goes on we learn that there is so much more to Kendall underneath. She is loving and passionate. She gives back to her community. I loved this about her. Ryan makes amends for his behaviour in the beginning and by half way through the book I was invested in these two. I loved their connection, the smoldering looks they give one another, the intensity and heat between them was off the charts. It becomes evident that Ryan just needs to find the right woman who can accept him and his love of his job and the more time these two spend together it seems as though Kendall might just be the one to provide that balance he so desperately needs.
I commend Kennedy Fox for writing a book that is an escape away but also adds the realness of the world we are living in right now to make this a realistic story.
