Meet Scarlett Cole

The tattoo across my right hip says it all really. A Life Less Ordinary. Inked by the amazingly talented Luke Wessman at the Wooster Street Social Club (a.k.a. New York Ink). Why is it important? Well, it sums up my view on life. That we should all aspire to live a life that is less boring, less predictable. Be bold, and do something amazing. I’ve made some crazy choices. I’ve been a car maker, a consultant, and even a senior executive at a large retailer running strategy. 

Born in England, spent time in the U.S. and Japan, before ending up in Canada where I met my own, personal hero – all six and a half feet of him. Both of us are scorpios! Yeah, I know! I can never get enough of Rachel Van Dyken's Mafia Royals Series and I loooved Tank and Tiny’s story! Tank is an undercover FBI agent and he is juggling his duty to the five mafia families and his job an an FBI agent. Soon he will have to make a decision on where is true loyalty is. In the meantime the families are taking a trip to Mexico to a private island they own for Serena and Junior’s wedding and Tank has been assigned the job of being Tiny’s bodyguard. The only thing is Tiny is not so Tiny at all. She may look Tiny but there is nothing else small about her. She is one fierce little firecracker. She tells it like is it and has a super sassy mouth on her and sure gave Tank run for his money at every turn. When they give in to each other the two have some super explosive chemistry that was undeniable! 

RVD never disappoints with this series. Her writing in this one was on the lighter side but she also brought her signature humor and heat with it and I devoured it in one sitting. It was the perfect novella to tide us over for the epic stories that I know are coming in King and Maksim’s books later this year.

I LOVED the GD Taylors!!

As soon as Willow Aster and Laura Pavlov announced this series, I knew they would make a fabulous writing duo and I was not wrong! Wanted Wed or Alive was an incredible start to what I know is going to be a favourite series this year. I fell so hard and fast for the Taylor brothers and I cannot wait for each of them to get their own HEAs. 

The story is most definitely a rom-com. There were endless scenes that had me in fits of giggles, but not only is this a rom-com it is heartfelt and there is a ton of swoony, steamy moments to fall over too.  I couldn’t get enough of the love, the friendship, and hilarious banter. 

Jesse is a runaway groom. He was steps away from making the biggest mistake of his life by marrying the wrong woman for him when he finally comes to his senses and flees from his wedding in Chicago to New York to join his brothers in their construction business. They own an up and coming Condo in New York, and each brother have their own condo unit in the same building. This is where Jesse meets Mya and the moment they do there were instant sparks! The chemistry between them was palpable and the way he was drawn to her and fumbling over his attraction to her was so damn adorable!

Mya is also from Chicago, and has moved into the same building. She has recently been betrayed by an ex-boyfriend in an unforgivable way and she is starting over in a new city and a new job at the law firm her bestie, Emma works at. Mya is extremely cautious after having her heart obliterated the way she did. Jesse has his work cut out for him wearing her down but he does not back down and when they finally give into their attraction is was off the charts, sexy! 

I adored Mya’s bestie, Emma so much! She had Mya’s back in every way. She is feisty, strong, stubborn and outspoken and I just know I am going to love her even more when we get her story.

The only thing I didn’t love was the conflict that arose and the lack of communication between Jesse and Mya. They could have handled it much differently if they had just communicated but it in no way takes away from how much I adored this story, and highly recommend it!

The Virgin Rule Book is the first book in Lauren Blakely’s new series, Rules of Love and what a start to the series it was! It has amazing characters, sexy, flirty banter, laugh out loud antics and just the right amount of romance and steam. 

Nadia is the owner of a football team that she recently inherited from her father. She is a powerhouse of a woman. Wealthy, sexy and confident. After a series of unsuccessful dates she vows to herself to give up men and dating and focus on her career and the success of the team since making the decision to move the team from Las Vegas to San Francisco. 

Crosby is a pro baseball player for the San Francisco Cougars and he is also Nadia’s brothers best friend. He has just made a promise to himself to take a break from women and dating as he is just about to start training camp for 7 weeks. All of that changes when Nadia and Crosby decide to be each other's plus one at Nadia’s brothers wedding and she ends up confessing that she is a virgin and wants Crosby to be the one she gives her virginity to. I loved the moments with Nadia’s best friend, Scarlet (from My One Week Husband) she is that supportive, encouraging best friend that I love.

This is going to be a fantastic series. LB dropped just enough hints to keep us guessing and wanting more of the rest of the characters in the book. I am particularly excited for Holden’s story after that little teaser at the end! 

If you love a good romantic comedy, sport romance, or friends to lovers story this is the one for you! Highly recommend.

Earn Your Extra Credit is a hilarious enemies to lovers rom-com by Meghan Quinn. The book was a joy to listen to. It was so entertaining, full of humour, heart and even a tiny bit of angst. I devoured it all at once without stopping. The narration done by Sebastian York and Erin Mallon is fantastic. They voice the characters of Brock and Stella perfectly and I love the ability they have to draw you into the story immediately. 

Brock aka Romeo is a former pro baseball player, now coach at Forest Heights High School. He has been crushing on Stella for awhile now, they were even friends at one point but things have been become strained between them and now they find themselves stuck on vacation together, to attend Arlo and Greer’s wedding (from See Me After Class). This is where their relationship finally changes. It all starts with a fake relationship and grew from there. I had a hard time with Brock at first, he was so mean to Stella but at the same time I understood his frustration of being forced together on vacation and suddenly having to deal with his unrequited feelings for Stella. 

 These characters were equally frustrating and loveable. I found myself frustrated with them one moment, and swooning the next. Brock was harbouring some hurt feelings and Stella had some major self sabotaging ways that totally got on my nerves but the chemistry between these two makes up for some of these frustrating qualities and the end really rounds the story out and made me fall hard for them.

Audio Review

I can never get enough of Sarina Bowen’s Brooklyn Bruisers Series. This time we have Anton “Baby Bayer” story. In the previous books in the series we see him as the life of the party, always up for a good time, including lots of women and booze. The book opens with Anton sweating a meeting with management after his playboy ways have gone a little too public and he is afraid of being benched from the team. Luckily he is given a final chance to clean himself up so he is now determined to keep a low profile, when it comes to women and strictly focus on his hockey career. 

In this book we get two for the price of one as not only do we revisit the beloved Brooklyn Bruisers, the franchise owned by Nate and Becca Kattenberger have now formed a women’s league, the Bombshells. This is where we meet Sylvie, the teams back up goalie. At first practice, Anton is immediately drawn to Sylvie when he sees her in action on the ice.

Sylvie and Anton together where quirky and awkward at times but it worked as they were super cute together. Neither one should really be delving into a relationship together, so they try to keep each other in the friend zone, but they quickly turn that into a friends with benefits situation and it grows from there. I loved their connection and their easy playful banter. It was so easy to fall for them!

The story is sweet, low drama, filled with laughter and all the feels, AND we also get some cameos from previous books, like Bridger and Scarlet from the Ivy Years series! That was a fun surprise.

I was blown away by the narration done by Patrick Zeller and Desireé Ketchum whom are fairly new to me narrators. They voiced Sylvie and Anton perfectly, infusing the perfect amount of passion and humor is their voices to make these characters come alive. I will be looking out for more of their work in the future!
