About the Book:
The cocky footballer next door has some serious game…luckily, Daphney Clarke knows how to play.
Zander Williams is the hot new American determined to take European football by storm. His head is so big, it barely fits under his backwards hat. And when he’s recruited to one of the biggest up and coming clubs in London, he’s certain to make his name known.
Managing the building where they live is only one of Daphney’s many jobs. It’s why she has zero patience for the obnoxious American on the other side of the wall who makes the most ungodly noises and likes to answer his door in nothing but a pink tea towel.
Tensions build and after one steamy hallway kiss, neighbor wars quickly shifts into neighbors-with-benefits and that’s a battle they both intend to win.
But Daphney doesn’t know the real reason Zander is in London, and now she’s stuck in the middle of a game she didn’t even know she was playing.
Sweeper is a 120,000 word full length sports romance that is set in the Harris Brothers world, but can be listened to as a stand-alone.
REVIEW
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
If I wasn't already head over heels in love with all things Harris Brothers I most certainly am now after finishing Sweeper! This is one of Amy Daws' BEST. She brought so much of her signature style with this story. Endless laughter, emotional dynamic characters, and a heartwarming love story between Zander and Daphney.
Zander is reeling after the death of his father and finding a letter written by his mother that rocked his world. He is questioning everything he knew about his upbringing. At the same time he has been given the opportunity to play for the Bethnal Green Football Club in the UK. Upon moving and settling into his new apartment he meets the lovely Daphney, his next door neighbour. These two from first meeting did not get along! The hate/love vibe going on was strong. Amy Daws does the Enemies to Lovers trope so well. The banter, the chemistry and eventual sexy times were scorching. I loved the emotional dynamic to these characters as well. The mix between laugh out loud moments to sweet, swoon worthy moments were a perfect balance and I became addicted to all things Zander and Daphney. What I love about Amy Daws’ heroines is their realistic relatable qualities. Daphney was the perfect match for Zander in every way. She is honest, feisty, smart and passionate. She is a talented woman. She writes jingles and works as a waitress. She has some vulnerabilities regarding her music due to a nasty ex boyfriend but once she let her guard down with Zander she could acknowledge her musical talent goes way above writing and performing jingles. I loved that Zander could help her see that. The emotional impact of this book is what stands out most for me. It had me feeling so much!! and I was a blubbering mess by the end! Such a beautiful story!
The audiobook is performed in duet by Teddy Hamilton and Faye Adele with special appearances by Stella Hunter and Will Watt. This is one of my top favourite performances by Teddy Hamilton. He is always so incredible in his storytelling but the way he adapts Zander's character and brings him to life is next level and one of my all time faves. His emotional delivery was pure perfection! Faye Adele is a new to me narrator but wow was she the perfect voice for Daphney, her sweet and sultry voice worked so well. The performances by Stella Hunter as Zander’s mom and Will Watt as all the british side characters brought this audiobook together so perfectly. If I could rate this higher than 5 stars I would! Phenomenal story, characters & narration!
