REVIEW: Forsaken Trail by Devney Perry

Forsaken Trail by Devney Perry is now live!

Aria Saint-James has planned the perfect getaway: sweatpants, takeout and two weeks alone with her sister and nephew. Nowhere on that list is wearing a low-cut dress and uncomfortable heels to attend a wedding where she knows neither the bride nor the groom. Toss in her nemesis, Brody Carmichael, and her road trip to Arizona is officially a bust.

But at least there is champagne.

She blames the bubbly for falling into bed with Brody that night. Enemy or no, the billionaire is irresistible in a tux. But after their one-night tryst, Aria has no choice but to cut her vacation short, returning home to escape his devilish smile, vowing never to see Brody again.
Except Aria gets a surprise a few weeks later--she's pregnant. When he learns that she's carrying his child, Brody offers Aria the chance of a lifetime. The catch? She has to live under his roof until the baby is born.
Either they'll kill each other in nine months. Or discover love buried beneath their hate.

REVIEW

★★★★☆

I cannot believe we are almost near the end of one of my favourite series! I love the premises of these stories. Six teenage runaways finding their HEA's as they each drive to a different state across the U.S. in their restored Cadillac.

I adored Aria and Brody's story just as much as the previous four books in the series. Once I started the book I couldn't put it down from beginning to end. From the start of the series I have been anxiously awaiting Aria and Clara's books and eager to learn more about how they become teenage runaways. I love the way Devney prepared us for these epic characters with just enough information to keep you wanting more. Aria and Clara's back story pulled at my heart strings and Aria's fierceness and determination and all that she has overcome made me love her even more than I already did in the little bit we get to know about her in Quarter Miles.

It's Aria's turn with the Cadillac and she is handing it off to her sister, Clara in Arizona while also visiting her and her nephew, August. She is looking forward to the visit but upon her arrival is disappointed to learn that her sister's broody/grumpy boss, Brody isn't away on a business trip as he originally planned. Aria decides to step in for Clara at a Carmichael family event and during the evening each learn a little more about the other that makes them realize that they’re might be more than just hate and dislike between them. After way more champagne than either of them should have drank they end up in bed together and a month later Aria learns she is pregnant.

Brody is by far my favourite of the men in this series. The moment he learns of Aria's pregnancy there was a vulnerability to him that I just adored. He is gorgeous, protective and a little too controlling for Aria so they have some serious communication and work to do but I loved how these two characters learn and grow together.

Their chemistry and connection was fiery and hot, and neither could resist the other for long. I couldn't get enough of their hate to love vibe one moment and their crazy chemistry the next. Not only do they connect physically but their emotional connection was beautiful too. The moment they each let their guard down and reveal all their truths was so real and raw and made my heart swoon. In the end I adored everything it took for this couple to get their happy ending. The journey was spectacular and the the way they fought and loved each other equally as hard I loved so much.

Dotted Lines is the fifth and final book in this series coming in March 2021 and I cannot wait for Clara and Karson's book to end this series off.
