Micaela
Once upon a time, a boy and a girl met and fell in love…
That’s the way my love story began, but unlike the fairy tale, it ended with me standing in the cemetery, watching my prince get lowered into the ground, along with all our dreams.
Now he’s gone and I’m lost.
Until an impromptu trip to my family’s beach house has me spending time with Ryan.
With his help, I’m learning to live again and make plans for the future.
The only problem is, we both know they can’t include him.
So, when our time is up, we do the only thing we can do—go our separate ways.

Ryan
My entire life, I’ve felt like the waves in a raging sea—crashing and breaking, never settling.
Until Micaela stormed in like a hurricane, colliding into my life and my heart.
I thought she’d be my destruction, but instead she turned out to be my calm.
The more time we spend together, the more life she breathes into both of us.
But all too quickly, our time is up and she’s ready to face her future—one I can’t be a part of.
So, I do the impossible and walk away.
But life is crazy, and love knows no bounds. You might’ve thought this is where our story ends, but the truth is… it’s only the beginning.

REVIEW

4 stars!

My Kind of Love by Nikki Ash is an addicting emotional love story. It hits a lot of different tropes I love to read in contemporary romance. Age gap, second chance and military romance.

Micaela is struggling to move on with life after the sudden death of her husband Ian. She feels stuck and is in need of a change and decides to head to a peaceful beach house to get away. When she gets there she discovers she is not alone, running into Ryan an old friend of the family.  I felt so much for Micaela. She is so young to experience loss way she has really made me feel for her. She is trying so hard to understand her feelings and make sense of what direction life is going to take her now that her plans for the future were been shattered with the loss of her husband. Although Micaela is young, I felt her to be mature and strong and resilient and I adored those characteristics in her.

Ryan is a Special Forces Sergeant for the Military. He is visiting the same beach house Micaela is vacationing to before his next deployment. Michaela and Ryan knew each other growing up but due to their 8 year age difference they were not close. Ryan is immediately taken by Micaela. He is a strong, protective man and sees something in her eyes that he wants to comfort and protect her.

As in all of Nikki’s book the chemistry between Ryan and Micaela is off the charts sexy. I loved their swoony banter, heart felt emotions and beautiful connection.

These two beautiful characters have obstacles to overcome and even though Micaela was very  reserved about a relationship with another military man, I felt the relationship developed at the perfect pace and I was so immersed in their story and how everything would turn out. I couldn’t put the book down from beginning to end.

This was such a fantastic introduction to a new series. I cannot wait for more to come!
