REVIEW: The Lawyer by Marni Mann

The Lawyer by Marni Mann is now live!

A sexy, new stand-alone in the Dalton Brothers Series from USA Today best-selling author Marni Mann …

I’m not the type of girl who picks up a man on a rooftop bar.

Not the kind of girl who lets a man’s hands roam my body, discovering I have no panties on.

Never the girl who has hours’ worth of o’s from a smoking-hot one-night stand.

But Dominick makes it so easy to say yes.

His body, his moves, and his oh-so-wicked tongue have me saying it over and over again.

Yes, please.

Yes, more.

Yes, right there.

He worships every inch of my body, and I’m still sore the next morning when I meet him again.

This time, he’s Mr. Dalton, my sister’s cutthroat entertainment lawyer.

And he has a proposition for me.

He wants to make me famous.

Of course, that means sharing a screen with my wildly jealous sister.

It means giving up my career.

It means the whole world will suddenly know everything about me.

Which presents one catastrophic problem—Dominick doesn’t date famous people.

So, do I take a chance at becoming a Hollywood star, or do I pass up the opportunity to be with the man who gave me a taste of forever?

REVIEW

🌟 ðŸŒŸ ðŸŒŸ ðŸŒŸ

The Lawyer is the first book in Marni Mann’s new Dalton Brothers series, and oh does it start off with a bang! This is one of the steamiest books I have read this year. Not only is this one sexy read, it has just the right about of drama and angst to keep me invested from beginning to end.

Kendall and Dominick have the most intense instant chemistry. From the very first chapter the heat between them scorching hot and explosive!

Dominic is pure alpha, commanding, sexy and charming. He is a successful entertainment lawyer. He is driven and focused and does not have time in his life for more than one night with a woman. Which is exactly what he thought he was getting with Kendall after their first hookup. Until they cross paths again the next morning during a meeting with Kendall’s sisters attorney which just so happens to be Dominick, of course and things get very interesting from there.

Kendall is a lot different than some women you meet in Hollywood. She is down to earth, caring and sweet. She has just uprooted her life moving to LA to become her sisters assistant. I was not a fan of Daisy at all. She was selfish and just plain awful to Kendall.

What I loved was the character growth with Kendall. I loved the way she comes into her own with the confidence and protectiveness of Dominick.

As far as romance this story has it all. There was a few problematic areas that got on my nerves but overall worth the read and I look forward to more in the series to come.

Note: I received an advanced reader copy in exchange of an honest review.

AUDIO REVIEW: Ignite by Chelle Bliss

ABOUT THE BOOK

Bossy, protective bad boy biker Mammoth Saint always thought he’d be a member of the Disciples MC...until he laid eyes on her.

Tamara Gallo has always been headstrong, sassy, and has never been afraid to speak her mind, even when it comes to her hottie biker boyfriend and his brothers in the MC.

But when Mammoth’s ready to sever ties from the club for good, choosing love over the brotherhood, someone from his past shows up and needs his protection, threatening his freedom along with their future.

Happily ever after - Yes!
Swoon-worthy - Heck, yeah!
No cliff-hanger

If you love a loyal biker, a strong heroine, steamy swoony romance, and witty laugh-out-loud banter...this book is for you!

Ignite is the fifth book in the USA Today best-selling Men of Inked: Heatwave series.

REVIEW

Ignite by Chelle Bliss
Narrated by Joe Arden
and Zara Eden

Rating: ★ ★ ★

Ignite is the fifth book in Chelle Bliss' Men of Inked: Heatwave Series. I fell in love with the Gallos in original Men of Inked series and am loving the next generation even more.

We first meet Mammoth and Tamara in the third book in the series, Wildfire. Ignite is a continuation of their story and I  absolutely loved it. From the moment I began listening I was sucked right in and could not stop until I finished.

Mammoth is pure alpha, protective and commanding. Tamara is fierce and sassy and the two have the most explosive chemistry. Their banter and passion was the absolute best.

This story has so much to love. Suspense, drama, love, loyalty and family. I can never get enough of the Gallos. They have each other’s backs no matter what.

Joe Arden and Zara Eden are powerhouses in their narration. Joe's growly tones are perfect for Mammoth and Zara portrayed Tamara's feisty, spirited personality to perfection.

REVIEW: One Day Like This by Scarlett Cole

Release Date: September 21

Matt

Loving Izabel Bryson should be the easiest thing in the world. Heck, she’s been the inspiration for at least half a dozen of the songs he’s written for his rock band, Sad Fridays.
He’s loved her for a decade.
But she’s his best friend and fellow-band mate’s little sister, and he promised a decade ago that he’d never put his hands on her.
She can never be his, no matter how much he craves her.

Izabel

Loving Matt Palmer is the most hopeless thing in the world.
The hours she spends running her friend’s yoga studio and volunteering at the Manchester homeless shelter only go so far in distracting her from the painful truth.
He doesn’t want her.
Because she screwed up that awful night two years before when she slept with Matt’s brother.
He will never be hers, no matter how much she yearns for him.

When a good deed leads to one bed, and one night of ruthless honesty, everything is laid bare. They belong together, but acting on it will cost them everything.

Review

4 stars!

One Day Like This is the first book in a new rockstar romance series by Scarlett Cole. Matt and Izabel have loved each from afar but neither acted on their feelings. Izabel is his best friend and band mates little sister, making her forbidden and off limits. Matt is the bass guitarist and songwriter for his band, Sad Fridays. He is talented and passionate about his music.

This story is full of drama and put my heart through a gamut of emotions. I was captivated from beginning to end and found it difficult to put down once I started reading.

Scarlett Cole has an incredible talent in writing a commonly themed trope and putting her unique stamp on it. This is not your typical rockstar romance. Sad Fridays has yet to make it big and reading the struggles and hardships and all the bad had to go through to make their dream come true made the story feel more authentic and real.

As Matt and Izabel give into their feelings their is some secrecy to navigate but their love, passion and intense chemistry is undeniable.

This is the just the beginning and was a great start to the series. I cannot wait to read the next one.

Thank you to Scarlett Cole and Wildfire Marketing for providing an advanced reader copy of the book in exchange of my honest review.

Meet Scarlett Cole

The tattoo across my right hip says it all really. A Life Less Ordinary. Inked by the amazingly talented Luke Wessman at the Wooster Street Social Club (a.k.a. New York Ink). Why is it important? Well, it sums up my view on life. That we should all aspire to live a life that is less boring, less predictable. Be bold, and do something amazing. I’ve made some crazy choices. I’ve been a car maker, a consultant, and even a senior executive at a large retailer running strategy.

Born in England, spent time in the U.S. and Japan, before ending up in Canada where I met my own, personal hero – all six and a half feet of him. Both of us are scorpios! Yeah, I know! Should have checked the astrological signs earlier, but somehow it works for us. We have two amazing kids, who I either could never part with or could easily be convinced to sell on e-bay.

I’ve wanted to be a writer for a really long time. Check through my office cupboards or my computer and you’ll find half written stories and character descriptions everywhere. Now I'm getting the chance to follow that dream.

I am represented by Beth Phelan at The Bent Agency, NY.

REVIEW

5 stars!

Catherine Cowles’ Wrecked Series has been one of my favourite series of all time and I have been so eager for Hunter’s book. From what we learn of him in Wrecked Memories and then again in Reckless Refuge I knew this would be a heartfelt, and emotional story. Hunter is dealing with some emotional scars and the moment he meets Piper he is completely drawn to her. Piper is the new owner of Whispering Falls, and Hunter and his construction company have been hired to renovate the resort.

Piper has suffered an unimaginable loss and she struggles to let people into her life in fear of loosing them. The progression of Piper and Hunters relationship was slow at first. They both try to deny their feelings vowing to keep things professional while working together but soon the pull they feel towards one another in hard to deny and the more time they spend together and open up to one another the closer they become and attraction, passion and love becomes so much stronger. I loved Piper so much. She was stubborn at times but was determined, focused and driven on her dream to restore the Falls. No matter the number of setbacks she faced she never gave up. I loved the way Hunter and Piper worked together. They have an amazing connection and I adored Hunter’s protective side. The way he was always quietly looking out for her I loved.

Catherine Cowles is such a fantastic writer. I adore the emotional, sweet side of her stories with just the right amount of suspense to keep me on the edge of your seat while I read. In Beneath the Wreckage we get more intensity and more suspense than the previous books in the series and I loved every moment.

REVIEW: Faking It with #41 by Piper Rayne

Release Date: September 21

Fake.

Being the heir to Jacobs Enterprises, I’ve been around fake people my entire life. I promised myself a long time ago that I wouldn’t change for anyone. Which is the only reason I’m a professional hockey player who lives on the beach and does as he pleases without answering to anyone—except my father.

And now, my daughter.

Being a single dad wasn’t in the plan but after a one-night stand who took off after the baby was born, this is my reality.

My dad’s been harping on me to quit hockey and join the company for years and now that I’m a father, he’s only intensified his efforts. Until he makes me a deal I can’t refuse.

Insert Lena Boyd, the Jacobs’ family PR rep. She’s beautiful and intelligent and not at all the woman for me—ask anyone.

My dad needs us to act happily engaged and sell the idea that we’re in love. If we’re successful I won’t have to join the family legacy—ever. Of course, I agree.

That’s when things get complicated. I thought I had her all figured out until I found out there was more underneath her judgmental sneers and eye rolls. It feels like everything is coming together for the future I really want—with Lena—until my past ruins everything.

Review

5 stars!

Faking it with #41 is the third book in Piper Rayne’s Hockey Hotties Series. It is Ford and Lena’s story and is my favourite of the series thus far. After reading the previous two books in the series and getting glimpses of Ford I really didn’t know what to expect of him when I began reading but I was pleasantly surprised. He stepped up to the single daddy roll from the very beginning and I fell hard for him. The moments with his daughter,  Annabelle were so sweet and she quickly becomes his entire focus. The way he loves and cares for her is so precious. Other than Annabelle there is nothing more important to Ford than his hockey career. So when his father makes a deal with him to pose as the fake fiancé of Lena, the families PR representative in order to get out of taking over the family business he quickly agrees.

Lena is hard working. She is strong and resilient but also has a heartbreaking past that will pull at your heartstrings.  I really enjoyed Lena and Ford as they open up to each other. Especially when Lena learns that there is so much more to Ford than his playboy ways. We learn there is a much sweeter and softer side to Ford than he originally lets on and she brings out in him. Lena and Ford had fantastic chemistry, the tension, the passion and scorching hot chemistry between was written so well.

I adore this series and the whole hockey family of the Florida Fury. I cannot wait for the next couples story after the drama that ensues in the epilogue.

Note: I received an advanced reader copy in exchange of an honest review.

REVIEW: The Lie by Karla Sorensen

Release Date: September 15

Rule number 1 for the team owner’s daughter? Don’t date the players.
Especially not hotheaded tight ends with tattoos and impulse control problems.
That's why Dominic Walker is completely off my radar. Sort of.
Babysitting the team troublemaker when he's forced to volunteer for the foundation where I work means I can't exactly avoid him.
I wish I had though. Because once I get to know Dominic, it's almost impossible to ignore the feelings he brings out in me.
Pretty soon, I'm breaking all my rules. I just have to hope he doesn't break my heart in the process.

REVIEW

Rating: ★ ★ ★ ★ ★

Karla Sorensen completely blew me away with Dominic and Faith's story. It is opposites attract/enemies to lovers romance with so much angst and all the feels. As a long time fan of the author's Washington Wolves series I was excited to dive back into a world I know and love and devoured it in one sitting. I was completely captivated by the story and characters from the beginning. Faith is the daughter of Allie and Luke (from The Bombshell Effect) she is sweet, smart, focused and driven. I admired her passion for her work and her family. Dominic has recently been traded to the Washington Wolves, and has a bit of a reputation. He has a temper and comes across as moody and broody but underneath he has a heart of gold. Karla is SO talented at writing slow burn, tension and scorching chemistry and she absolutely delivered that with Faith and Dominic. I just loved every interaction between them! I could not get enough. Not only do they have fabulous chemistry physically but emotionally they were so in sync with each other. My heart swooned and squeezed so many times for them. What stands out the most for me is the growth in Dominic's character and this bad boy footballer definitely stole my heart!

Note: I received an advanced reader copy in exchange of an honest review.

Audiobook - after finishing the ebook I also received an advanced listener copy and devoured the story again by listening to the incredible narration done by Lance Greenfield and Stella Hunter. They did a fabulous job narrating Faith and Dominic. The passion, and emotion in both of their voices hooked me and made me fall in the love with the story and characters all over again.

Whether you read of listen to your books, I cannot recommend this story enough. It is one of my favourites this year and I cannot wait for Faith's sisters book, The Bet coming next year.
