REVIEW: Faking It with #41 by Piper Rayne

Release Date: September 21

Fake.

Being the heir to Jacobs Enterprises, I’ve been around fake people my entire life. I promised myself a long time ago that I wouldn’t change for anyone. Which is the only reason I’m a professional hockey player who lives on the beach and does as he pleases without answering to anyone—except my father.

And now, my daughter.

Being a single dad wasn’t in the plan but after a one-night stand who took off after the baby was born, this is my reality.

My dad’s been harping on me to quit hockey and join the company for years and now that I’m a father, he’s only intensified his efforts. Until he makes me a deal I can’t refuse.

Insert Lena Boyd, the Jacobs’ family PR rep. She’s beautiful and intelligent and not at all the woman for me—ask anyone.

My dad needs us to act happily engaged and sell the idea that we’re in love. If we’re successful I won’t have to join the family legacy—ever. Of course, I agree.

That’s when things get complicated. I thought I had her all figured out until I found out there was more underneath her judgmental sneers and eye rolls. It feels like everything is coming together for the future I really want—with Lena—until my past ruins everything.

Review

5 stars!

Faking it with #41 is the third book in Piper Rayne’s Hockey Hotties Series. It is Ford and Lena’s story and is my favourite of the series thus far. After reading the previous two books in the series and getting glimpses of Ford I really didn’t know what to expect of him when I began reading but I was pleasantly surprised. He stepped up to the single daddy roll from the very beginning and I fell hard for him. The moments with his daughter,  Annabelle were so sweet and she quickly becomes his entire focus. The way he loves and cares for her is so precious. Other than Annabelle there is nothing more important to Ford than his hockey career. So when his father makes a deal with him to pose as the fake fiancé of Lena, the families PR representative in order to get out of taking over the family business he quickly agrees.

Lena is hard working. She is strong and resilient but also has a heartbreaking past that will pull at your heartstrings.  I really enjoyed Lena and Ford as they open up to each other. Especially when Lena learns that there is so much more to Ford than his playboy ways. We learn there is a much sweeter and softer side to Ford than he originally lets on and she brings out in him. Lena and Ford had fantastic chemistry, the tension, the passion and scorching hot chemistry between was written so well.

I adore this series and the whole hockey family of the Florida Fury. I cannot wait for the next couples story after the drama that ensues in the epilogue.

Note: I received an advanced reader copy in exchange of an honest review.
